I took a buyout from my old employer effective 10/1. My severance has me paid through February. I have had company cars all my career and to bridge between jobs bought a 1998 lesabre with cash to use.
I start a new job in early March and need to lease a car on my own. I see lots about credit issues, my score is 790 but I have no history with cars, I won 2 houses and my wife is employed. I will be writing off the car payment up to $500 per month plus insurance.
Would like your feedback on how I will be viewed from a credit perspective? I was planning on having my wife cosign to help answer any questions on the employment gap, she has a new loan (April 2008) out on her car (Q7) and no payment issues and will be paying it off in April this year.
Is "car history" a major factor in a lease approval? Just curious what anyone has to say on the situtaion.
I am looking at an "09 Murano SK AWD, 36 month lease but need 25 K miles per year.
Thanks,
Ken

Hi Ken!
You have a good explanation for not having a car payment. Also, having your spouse will help. I don't see any reason why you would be declined for car credit history.
